"Love, Ludlow" - Sundance Feature 2005
Selected Scenes
Editor Eric Pomert's first feature editing endeavor "LOVE, LUDLOW"
had its world premiere at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. It earned Third Place in the Audience Awards and Roger Ebert called it "another Sundance treasure." It also took the Best Screenplay award at the 2005 Method Film Festival.
Screenwriter David L. Paterson's film was helmed by first-time director Adrienne Weiss and produced by Indie veteran Amy Hobby. The screenplay was based on Paterson's play "Finger Painting in a Murphy Bed." With the usual 14 weeks to rough cut collapsed into a very intense 7 weeks, Pomert said, "It's terrific news and very rewarding. Great teamwork went into this, and I'm very proud of the results. Pomert notes that it has been a rich learning experience and credits his commercial background with providing a keen eye for precision and clarity in telling a feature-length story. This is the first feature for Washington Square Films' newly formed Independent Film Division. Hobby is the division's president. "Eric is a real pro," said Hobby, "He connected with the story immediately and brought out the gems in the footage." Other producing credits for Hobby include last year's "Thirteen Conversations About One Thing" starring Matthew McConaughey and John Turturro, "Hamlet", starring Ethan Hawke, Sam Shepard, and Bill Murray, and the award-winning "Secretary" with James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal. She has also been awarded for her feature directing debut "Coney Island Baby." The story revolves around Myra (Alicia Goranson), a no-nonsense young temp from Queens who takes no guff at work. At home, however, she is dominated by her eccentric brother Ludlow (Brendan Sexton III) . When Myra agrees to date the charming but vulnerable Reggie (David Eigenberg) it seems that things could change. Madhouse Editorial provided extensive support including Avid time, in-progress screening events, and audio services. Craig Seti of Image Editorial in New York supervised all film-related services including dailies, color correction, and HD mastering. Read Eric's Sundance diary |
