His career path began with film editing and has evolved into directing, producing, and script consulting. He has guided multi-million dollar projects that have garnered creative accolades in Cannes, Sundance, MoMA New York, and the London International Advertising Awards. Eric has been in love with film and storytelling since the age of 6, when he started making radio commercials in his bedroom on his Tandy tape recorder. He recently conceived and directed an exclusive interview with bestselling author and teacher Byron Katie with his partner Josh Blau through their company, 2 Guys on the Phone Productions. He is currently developing a tv cooking show for kids. Detail-oriented, skillful and resourceful, Eric is a key creative player on the production team. He is commited to executing a story vision that seduces an audience into irresistible attention. Eric sees himself primarily as a storyteller. His passion is crafting pieces that transport an audience into wonder, imagination, and awe. He is proud of his track record of consistent success through non-traditional thinking. After his graduation from Columbia University with a Major in Biology and a minor in French, Eric worked for one year as a full-time research staff assistant in genetics at the Columbia University Department of Biology. After a two-month stint in medical school and a serendipitous position as an accountant at Pfizer, Inc., he re-discovered his passion for acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York studying acting, voice and movement for two years. There he was introduced to the behind-the-scenes aspect of film production. This inspired him to spend two years working in film production where a brief experience with editing showed him that it was something that came easily to him. He then landed a job at First Edition, where he started as an editing apprentice to Gavin Cutler in 1992 and became an editor in 1994. Eric joined the editing team of Mackenzie Cutler in 1997 where he stayed until 2004 to widen his horizons and explore new creative outlets as an independent editor and producer. Following a life-long dream, Eric's first full-length feature film edit, Love, Ludlow, premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and took third place in the Audience Awards. It is a quirky romance set in Queens featuring "Sex and the City'" star David Eigenberg. Eric's television work includes the 2007 Academy Awards, ABC Family's "Kyle XY," and Showtime's "Master of Horrors." Commercial campaigns include Puma, Diet Dr Pepper, Heineken, Kleenex, Bob's Stores, Twizzlers, and Pinnacle Golf. He is also very proud of his pro bono work for Easter Seals New York.
